And I just love the way Sales frames her stories, including important anecdotes from Arden's childhood and playing about with the timeline of the novel. Tonight the Streets Are Ours is filled with insights about people and the way they think. The truth that what we show to the world might only be a shadow of the reality. ![]() All the characters are well-developed and interesting, though unlikable at times, and I loved the sad truth running underneath the surface of this story - the truth that everyone has their own personal story and it might not be what you expect. ![]() Plus, some of the early reviews have had low-to-average ratings, making me even more hesitant.īut I thought this book was wonderful. I've been a little afraid to start Tonight the Streets Are Ours because it seemed that anything it delivered would never be able to compare. Two years ago, Sales' This Song Will Save Your Life completely ripped my heart out. Just not quite in the way you're probably imagining. And it is a love story, as the opening sentences promise.
